State Police trooper says each day a new adventure

Trooper Mike Winans , of Pocatello, Idaho.

Idaho State Police.
Years of service:
Four years with the Blackfoot Police Department, five years with the Idaho State Police.
Most memorable experience on duty:
Having an individual die in my arms after he had been shot multiple times by his brother-in-law.
Favorite part of job:
I enjoy the fact that each day is a new adventure.
Worst
part
of job:
Paperwork.
Why you serve:
I know that it sounds cliche, but I really do enjoy helping people. I think this is the prevailing attitude with people who chose law enforcement as a career. I also take great pride in knowing that I am protecting our community from those who would do us harm.
Family:
Wife and two children.
Future plans:
Continue serving with the State Police.
