ISPA Online - 2007 Spring Board Meeting
The 2007 Spring Board Meeting was held on February 23 & 24 in Boise at the AmeriTel Inn - Boise Spectrum. Chapter Presidents and/or other chapter officers attended from every chapter.
The board had a busy agenda and many things were accomplished. The meetings started with a reading of the minutes of the Fall Board Meeting. Other things that were discussed were the association's finances, the ISPA scholarships, the National Law Enforcement Memorial, fund raising efforts, the ISPA call center, retired members, ISPA merchandise, this website (www.ispaonline.org) and many other items brought from the membership by the various Chapter Presidents and other chapter officers.
On the first day the new Director, Col. J. Russell, took time out of his busy schedule to address the board and answer questions. The board would like to thank Col. Russell for giving them the opportunity to get to know him better and hear some of his thoughts, ideas and goals. He has an extensive background in law enforcement and he shared a little of his experience in his career "across the river" (with the Oregon State Police). ISPA welcomes Col. Russell and looks forward to working with him in service to the citizens of this great state.
Two special presentations were also made on the first day. The association honored Rep. Rich Wills and Steve Raschke for their tireless efforts and influence in getting House Bill 602 passed last year. Both were presented with beautiful plaques to show the appreciation of the association membership. Chairman Fred Rice made the presentation to Rep. Wills who then addressed the board and discussed several items of interest. President Sam Ketchum (Chapter 3) made the presentation to Steve Raschke. Raschke then spoke to the board about several things including Project Choice.
On the second day of meetings the board toured the new call center. The board got to see the callers in action. Everyone was impressed with the professionalism of the callers and the look of the center. Photos of the center will be posted on this site soon.
The board recognized the overwhelming outpouring of support, concern and care for Trooper Glenn and his family. So many people, organizations, businesses ... people from all walks of life ... from all across the country, have helped with food, money, equipment and in so many other ways. We would like to add our sincere thanks to all who have helped in any way.
More details of the meetings will appear on this site soon and, as always, the Chapter Presidents will have copies of the complete minutes soon.
